Basic MediaWiki Syntax can be found here.
Before making an edit that could be controversial, describe what you want to do in the discussion page and also talk about it on the mailing list before you do it.
Please use the Sandbox to practice or play with wiki syntax. Avoid experimenting in bona fide pages.
Interlink pages whenever possible. Use external links frequently. For Example, any reference to the Linux Kernel should link to http://www.kernel.org.
Avoid creating dead end pages (pages that don't link to any other page in the wiki). The least you can do is have a You are Here section at the top of the page. This page is an example.
Preview a page and proofread it before saving it.
If you see any typos or grammatical mistakes in pages, please edit it.
While uploading images, as far as possible, use png image format.
Please make an entry in the Summary before saving the page. Usually, the header of the section of the document is automatically inserted within /* notation. Please add additional information about what was edited / deleted within that section.
On pages where you mention, you have a resource (or resources) to share, please mention your email id. It is recommended to exchange other direct contact information (phone / mobile numbers etc.) over emails.
Please use your User page to include information about yourself. These pages are created by default for every registered user. Do Not create a new page for this purpose. The URL to your user page is
