The meeting opened at 1430 hours due to insufficient members at 1400 hours with a round of introductions. There were atleast 4 members with a developing background and Jitendra incorporated into his introduction a mini-session of how he came from being a GNU/Linux hater to someone who recognizes the immense potential of the FLOSS movement. He said that what limits the FLOSS movement from realizing it's potential is the lack of commercial support and successful precedences of a viable commercial FLOSS organization. He also said the culture of emphasising the lack of professional and commercial support is what hinders adoption of FLOSS by government and other organizations.

The meet started with a presentation of Qt4 by Prashant who demonstrated a few simple applications and illustrated the types of widgets and usage of signals and slots.Rupesh demonstrated a small application written in PyQt which enabled use of a bluetooth enabled phone to control the playback of media in diverse media players as Rhythmbox,Amarok and Totem.Jitendra then took over with a demonstration of the G.I.S system built for the Pune Municipal Corporation, which enables digitization of land records, helps in e-governance by localization into the local language and also furthers the role of citizens in decision making.A few privacy concerns were raised which were allayed as being taken care of by the P.M.C decisions.

Yves then presented the Global Independent Streaming Support(G.I.S.S) project, which aims to bring the spirit of FLOSS to the field of broadcasting, both audio and video over the Internet. The G.I.S.S servers act as pipes with a single input from the broadcaster and multiple outputs to as many clients are viewing the broadcast which is realtime, while not saving a copy to their servers, thus no legal liabilities are assumed.A few demonstrations of the Pure Data programming language followed, where Yves showed how the gstreamer framework was adapted to G.I.S.S's purposes.
